The agricultural sector currently continues to be the mainstay of the national. The national economy in general shows resilience, supported by increased domestic demand, investment and inflation that are maintained and the continued positive performance of exports.
From data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS, provisional figures), the value of agricultural exports from January to December 2022 was IDR 640.56 trillion, an increase of 3.93 percent compared to the same period in 2021. The plantation sub-sector continues to be the largest contributor to exports in the agricultural sector with a contribution of 622.37 trillion rupiah (97.16%). Exports of plantation commodities which have soared in 2022 are mostly contributed by palm oil commodities with a value of IDR 468.64 trillion (75.30%). This shows that the opportunity to export plantation commodities such as palm oil as a source of foreign exchange is still increasing.
Minister of Agriculture Syahrul Yasil Limpo said the contribution of palm tree was supported by the national palm plantation cover area which had reached 16.38 million hectares, of which around 6.9 million hectares belonged to smallholder palm plantations. The condition of our people’s palm plantations continues to face big challenges related to productivity. This could threaten the future of the Indonesian people’s palm oil if a comprehensive step is not taken. The government is making efforts to improve the upstream sector of smallholder palm plantations by replacing old or unproductive plants through the People’s Oil Palm Rejuvenation (PSR) program. From the area of smallholder oil palm, there are at least 2.8 million hectares that have the potential to be rejuvenated.
The government continues to coordinate with the Office in charge of plantations at the provincial level, the agency in charge of plantations at the regency level, the Palm Oil Farmers Association of People’s Nucleus Plantations (Aspek-PIR), the Association of Indonesian Palm Oil Farmers (Apkasindo), Plantation Companies in the framework of coordinating and synchronizing potential data people’s palm oil rejuvenation. At the National Palm Oil Coordination Meeting, a Joint Commitment was signed between the Director General of Plantations, Ministry of Agriculture and the Director General of Land and Spatial Surveys and Mapping of the Ministry of ATR/BPN. This effort was made with the aim of encouraging the PSR program to run faster and better.
“We have to make sure that the PSR program can run well, and I believe this PSR forum will produce something that can be of benefit to the Indonesian people,” said Syahrul.
The Director General of Plantations Andi Nur Alam Syah revealed that the Smallholder Oil Palm Rejuvenation Program (PSR) is a momentum for improving the management of smallholder oil palm plantations in a sustainable manner as a form of joint commitment to increasing the productivity of smallholders which ultimately will increase the welfare of smallholders.
“Today I specifically invite all parties involved in the PSR program to make today a
momentum for the awakening of the PSR Program and improving palm oil governance. It is hoped that Sustainable Indonesian Palm Oil will be realized through multi-party synergy, so that it can encourage increased production, added value and competitiveness. Indonesian palm oil,” said Andi.

Sektor pertanian saat ini terus menjadi andalan perekonomian nasional. Perekonomian nasional secara umum menunjukkan ketahanan dengan ditopang peningkatan permintaan domestik, investasi dan inflasi yang terus terjaga serta berlanjutnya kinerja positif ekspor.
Dari data Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS, angka sementara), nilai ekspor pertanian Januari-Desember 2022 adalah sebesar 640,56 triliun rupiah atau naik 3,93 persen dibandingkan periode yang sama tahun 2021. Sub sektor perkebunan terus menjadi penyumbang terbesar ekspor di sektor pertanian dengan kontribusi sebesar 622,37 triliun rupiah (97,16%). Ekspor komoditas perkebunan yang melonjak pada tahun 2022 paling besar disumbang komoditas kelapa sawit dengan nilai 468,64 trilyun rupiah (75,30%). Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa peluang ekspor komoditi perkebunan seperti kelapa sawit sebagai salah satu sumber devisa negara masih terus meningkat.
Menteri Pertanian Syahrul Yasil Limpo mengatakan Kontribusi kelapa sawit ditopang luas areal tutupan kelapa sawit nasional yang telah mencapai 16,38 juta hektar, dimana sekitar 6,9 juta hektar merupakan milik Pekebun sawit rakyat. Kondisi kebun sawit rakyat kita terus menghadapi tantangan besar terkait produktivitas. Hal ini dapat mengancam masa depan sawit rakyat Indonesia jika tidak lakukan suatu langkah komprehensif. Pemerintah melakukan upaya perbaikan dari sektor hulu perkebunan kelapa sawit rakyat dengan cara penggantian tanaman tua atau tidak produktif melalui program Peremajaan Sawit Rakyat (PSR). Dari luas areal sawit rakyat tersebut, setidaknya terdapat 2,8 juta hektar yang potensial untuk diremajakan.
Pemerintah terus melakukan koordinasi dengan Dinas yang membidangi Perkebunan tingkat Provinsi, Dinas yang membidangi perkebunan tingkat Kabupaten, Asosiasi Petani Kelapa Sawit Perkebunan Inti Rakyat (Aspek-PIR), Asosiasi Petani Kelapa Sawit Indonesia (Apkasindo), Perusahaan Perkebunan dalam rangka koordinasi dan sinkronisasi data potensi peremajaan sawit rakyat. Pada Rapat Koordinasi Kelapa Sawit Nasional ini dilakukan penandatanganan Komitmen Bersama antara Direktur Jenderal Perkebunan, Kementan dengan Direktur Jenderal Survei dan Pemetaan Pertanahan dan Ruang Kementerian ATR/BPN. Upaya ini dilakukan dengan tujuan mendorong program PSR dapat berjalan lebih cepat lagi dan lebih baik lagi.
“Kita harus pastikan Program PSR ini dapat berjalan dengan baik, dan saya percaya forum PSR inI akan menghasilkan sesuatu yang dapat bermanfaat bagi rakyat Indonesia” ucap Syahrul.
Direktur Jenderal Perkebunan Andi Nur Alam Syah mengungkapkan bahwa Program Peremajaan Sawit Rakyat (PSR) merupakan momentum perbaikan tata kelola perkebunan sawit rakyat secara berkelanjutan sebagai wujud komitmen bersama meningkatkan produktivitas kebun rakyat yang pada akhirnya untuk peningkatan kesejahteraan pekebun.
“Hari ini secara khusus saya mengajak semua pihak yang terlibat dalam program PSR menjadikan hari ini sebagai momentum kebangkitan Program PSR dan perbaikan tata kelola sawit ini diharapkan Sawit Indonesia Berkelanjutan akan terwujud melalui sinergi multi pihak, sehingga dapat mendorong meningkatkan produksi, nilai tambah dan daya saing kelapa sawit Indonesia” ucap Andi
